THE WALKING DEAD ist in aller Munde!

Wow. Didn't see that one coming. The death of a major character and in the most brutal fashion thinkable. That hope that was dangled in the last collection is swept from the board. Bravo, gentlemen.

After reading the 16 volumes previous, or perhaps because of reading the 16 volumes previous, this was perhaps one of the more disturbing stories I've read in this form. My heart was racing after finishing.

The Alexandria colony realizes that the threat of Negan is much greater than they had originally thought, and they might not have a choice but to give in to his demands and live a life of fear.A lot of devastating loss in this volume. Geez. I don't know if Negan is the scariest villain encountered yet, but he's definitely the most violent.

his is the volume that made me realise I had serious series fatigue. It's been great so far, a sprawling epic of what happens to a band of survivors after the zombie apocalypse hits. It’s played a bit with the zombie mythos, explored what happens to people and the morality in the aftermath, it’s had mind blowing dramatic set pieces and small heart breaking drama.I do recommend the series (15+ volumes of quality) but now I am done. It’s the monotony of always having just one story strand with no single issue look at other things or people. It’s the shock and awe tactics of the latest volume which requires a too obvious plot contrivance to make it happen and only seems to happen to wake you up. It’s the fact that it echoes too much a better, earlier plot when what it really needs is a fresh injection. It’s Rick. I am so fed up of Rick and the fact he is still the central focus and quickly becoming narrow in definition. And whilst this volume maybe addresses the issue of what the character has become it’s too late for me. It probably doesn't help I just played Last of Us on the PS3. Stunning story, with deft use of character view points & far better at the morality question & playing with tropes.

The group runs into Negan's people; find out that their group is much larger, stronger, and infinitely more vicious than expected; and a huge loss to the group makes Rick agree to yield to the threat. Such a frustrating installment! I've gotten used to our group being the strong ones - no matter what, they should do what is morally right under the circumstances (I think we've left ethics behind quite a long time ago). Rick giving in to Negan is a painful read, but at least there's a light at the end of that tunnel in the guise of "Jesus." Let's hope that plan works out! Can't wait for the next installment to be published!

I love this series, and have discussed it with teens at work so I know some teens are reading it, although there is a LOT of violence and gore.Fans of the tv series would like this graphic novel series, even though there are some differences. Fans of the Benny Imura zombie series by Jonathan Maberry might also like this series.

I'm still traumatized from this volume's storyline. It was brutal. I thought other villains were bad for Rick's group, but Negan is a whole new level of bad. Deeply disturbing stuff. More than ever I'm anxious to know what happens next.

Just when I think this series can't shock me anymore. It does.

I mean wow, this volume was an absolute mind mangle (thank you thesaurus lol) - GLENN IS DEAD! ABRAHAM IS DEAD! Oh my days....

To be fair I should know by now, reading this far into this series, that nobody is safe but when it happens it feels like a kick to the gut. Kirkman lulls the reader into this boring, kind of safe community - things start to look up get complacent - and BAM!, it was awesome.

I'm in such a state of shock.... I just don't have anything to add. I know that a lot of people would have hated this volume, but I love the fact that it's still shocking me. Great stuff.

This is the issue where Rick's Alexandria group meets Negan and The Saviors. Two major characters are killed and Maggie realizes she's pregnant. So a big issue.

The Walking Dead, Volume 17, Something To Fear by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, et al. – Rick decides to pursue the suggestion to have his weary clan join the much larger, and much better supplied, compound that he visited in Volume 16. He embarks on a day-long drive with a few of his followers to talk more about combining the two survivor compounds. However, in addition to the roving Zombies, there are other groups of dangerous (even vicious) people that should be feared. There is no certainty that joining forces with the larger compound would be wise. This is a very shocking and violent installment in this fantastic life and death struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic zombie-filled environment that also contains ruthless and desperate human predators.
