It was only a matter of time before the issue of Cannabalism was introduced. Makes sense that in times of scarcity of food and starvation a possibility, that people would turn to eating other people for meat. Tragic really. Especially since there are limited humans still around to eat as most of them are Zombies.
I am so glad Dale finally died, he was starting to annoy me by insisting that the comic become boring and everybody stay at one place. Father Gabriel was just plain weird and I really want everybody to get to Washington so I can see if there is an explanation for the dead walking. Is Eugene who he says he is?
All in all another great volume. - Bewertung: 5 von 5 Sternen5/5The Walking Dead: Vol. 11, Fear the Hunters by Robert Kirkman, Charles Adlard, Cliff Rathman, and Russ Wootton is another excellent action-packed addition to this Image Comics graphic-novel post-apocalyptic series. It is the best series about human beings struggling to survive in a world overrun by zombies. Kirkman, the creator and writer, produces well-crafted and gripping story lines that often shock and repulse the reader, but won’t let the reader abandon the story. Likewise the remarkable black-and-white art work enhances the dark and horrible realities with which the characters struggle. These horrible realities are not only populated with flesh-eating zombies. They are also very often populated by desperate, ruthless, terrified, and/or evil people who attack and ravage each other. The Walking Dead TV series on AMC is based upon this graphic-novel series. I watch and enjoy the TV series. However, if you like the TV series, I strongly encourage you to also read these graphic novels. Start with volume one and read them all.
- Bewertung: 3 von 5 Sternen3/5And we're still (theoretically) winding our way to DC, with a few pit stops...
And in this grouping of the graphic novels there is some truly fucked up shit going down. Some of it makes sense, some of it doesn't. But it's all still 7 kinds of crazy. I'm kinda ready for them to be moving on, though. Adding and subtracting people is fine, but it gets tiring in every volume. I would also like to believe that in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse there could be a few more people that aren't completely effing bent, but I suppose it makes sense on some level that it's not something people will survive with all of their sanity and humanity in tact. - Bewertung: 4 von 5 Sternen4/5I should say that Kirkman does give our survivors one nice gift at the beginning - an abandoned van that not only functions but is decked out with mattresses. From this point, the things they'll endure are no longer simply bad or draining; horrific barely even scratches the surface. As zombies are singular in their approach and mission, humanity still has all sorts of interesting and fascinating ways to demonstrate the ways that they'll bend and ultimately break. For our survivors, the question of how to handle the unpredictable and broken vs. those that have merely bent or cracked while maintaining their own sanity.
- Bewertung: 5 von 5 Sternen5/5The twins turn out to be a little more damaged than expected and one of the group has to step up when things go really wrong, Dale goes on a walkabout and is abducted by an unsavory group, and the group must band together and defend themselves, no matter how high the price might seem to an outsider. Another great installment in a great series - this time with a properly creepy adversary, or quite a few, rather. The main theme seems to be about whether doing what is "the right thing" really has any relevance to these characters any more. At their present situation, dealing with whatever comes up as efficiently as possible seems to have taken over any moral convictions. Dale talking with Rick about not having thanked him for the things that didn't happen is one of many properly heartrending moments in this installment.
- Bewertung: 4 von 5 Sternen4/5Jeez Kirkman, is there anything left on the human depravity scale you haven't included in this volume? Seriously, where do you go from here? PS - Good Job!
- Bewertung: 5 von 5 Sternen5/5Wow! I barely had the stomach for this story line. It started out violent and macabre, and then got worse!
- Bewertung: 5 von 5 Sternen5/5The survivors meet some new people, and suffer multiple tragedies unrelated to the zombies. How they deal with the tragedies changes them and their relationships.Holy guacamole. Even by The Walking Dead standards, this volume is really, really crazy. Really. Especially considering there are almost no zombies in it. No wonder there were two slow volumes in a row before this.
