Rick, Ezekiel und ihre Schar von Freiheitskämpfern haben Negan den Krieg erklärt, und dieser nimmt die Herausforderung dankend an! Der machiavellische Dispot und seine Erlöser wurden in die Ecke gedrängt, doch die kleine Armee, die sich ein für alle Mal von diesem Wahnsinnigen befreien wollte, konnte trotz des Himmelfahrtskommandos durch Holly, die mit einem Fahrzeug sämtliche Barrieren durchbrach, nicht den letzten Treffer landen … und so holt Negan zu seinem Vergeltungsschlag aus, der Alexandria von der Bildfläche wegfegen wird!
Inmitten der gegnerischen Offensive versucht sich die dezimierte Truppe um Rick nun in ihrer "Festung" neu zu formieren. Dass sie in letzter Sekunde Verstärkung durch die Anwohner der Anhöhe bekommen, jetzt angeführt durch Maggie, verschafft ihnen etwas Zeit. Aber die Schäden sind irreparabel, die Rauchschwaden über Alexandria dick, und Negan ist an einem Punkt angekommen, wo ihm jedes Mittel Recht ist, um am Ende als Sieger dazustehen … Mittel, so genadenlos und pervers, dass Rick und seine Anhänger sich noch keine Vorstellung davon machen können.

Der offene Krieg steuert auf seinen entscheidenden Zusammenprall zu und es werden keine Gefangenen mehr gemacht!

Zur Feier des zehnjährigen Bestehens von THE WALKING DEAD letztes Jahr (2003-2013) haben sich die Macher der erfolgreichen Comicserie besonders beeilt mit der Veröffentlichung. Herausgekommen ist der Zweiteiler "All out war". Der hier gesammelte Teil 2 beinhaltet die US-Hefte 121 bis 126.

Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer. His first creation was Battle Pope, which he co-wrote with Tony Moore, and in 2003 they began the comic book series The Walking Dead, set in a George A. Romero zombie movie-inspired world.

The Walking Dead: Volume 21, All Out War, Part Two by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Stephano Gaudiap, cliff Raathburn, et al. – Volume 21 continues this fabulous ongoing graphic novel series about a world torn apart by flesh-eating Zombies and human clans that fight each other for control and survival. Part Two concludes the “All Out War” between Rick’s desperate band of survivors and the evil Negan’s army of thugs that have been forcefully controlling and exploiting Rick and his followers. This desperate struggle reveals lots of violent fighting and savagery, and it seems like both armies will destroy each other. However, the vagaries of war can produce surprising results. This is a terrific conclusion of the two-part “All Out War” chapter and it will be interesting to discover what is to come.

One word, anticlimatic.

I kept holding my breath for the shock moment that just never came. I was almost certain that one of the major characters would die, but I was wrong.

I am majorly disappointed by this one, it was too unbelievable namely, Rick gives a speech to Negan about community and working together and Negan actually agrees. Isn't Negan supposed to be a psycho? Suddenly a little speech makes him change his mind completely?! It was too out of character for him it didn't make any sense. But what made the least sense was Rick deciding to spare his life and imprison him. What the hell? I get Ricks vision of the future but they aren't there yet. Capital punishment is one of the only ways to keep order in those kind of circumstances. I just disagreed entirely. Maggie also commented that she thought that Glenn would have agreed. Uh Maggie? He beat Glenn to death - I think Glenn would have shot him in the face. Also Carl looks a bit like Maggie, it's really weird. The artwork definitely isn't the best IMO.

So disappointed but it had some redeeming moments too, Negan was great up until the end, and I just love Jesus. He is so badass.

The war between the two group intensifies, with massive casualties on both sides. Negan uses germ warfare, while Rick has a spy among The Saviors. And we see how Rick proves his humanity when it's tested.

I've put off continuing to read The Walking Dead series because it seems to have run out of ideas. There's only so many times you can read about the survivors of the zombie apocalypse fighting one another to the death. And the current villain Negan has really run his course.So thankfully this volume has some good things to offer as Negan is finally defeated. This volume is also very slender, so at least the "all out war" isn't drawn out. Actually, Rick's big speech about how they've learned to live with the constant threat of the dead around them and now it's time to stop fighting and work toward rebuilding society seems to be a commentary on the comics series itself. It seems to me that a story about the survivors facing the challenge of rebuilding without relying on the easy plot of the violent antagonist (whether it be from outside or within the group) is an interesting story to tell. Now let's see if Kirkman and co. can do it.

The battle with Negan comes to a conclusion. People die. (of course). But will civilization survive the battle. Is it about survival or about humanity?

Loved this series so far, but it may be running out of space and steam for a focused story on what happens under the extreme situations as civilization dissolves. The Negan character ups the ante on the question of dealing with people obsessed with power, but Rick's decision as this story ends feels forced and frankly trite. The struggle for what makes us human needs deeper thought, and I fear Kirkman is being tempted with narrative distractions and using pointless trendy character quirks that take away from the central questions this story was attending to. At the end of this book, I was wondering less about what Rick will do, and more about whether Kirkman is running out of anything significant to say.

This series just continues to entertain. It's not the best drawn, or best written comic out there, but it's consistently good, and I'm liking the questions it wrestles with.

Negan has been an excellent, if freakish villain. It'll be interesting to see what new threats are in store for the survivors.

I have really liked these graphic novels so far, but this one is my least favorite. I feel like it's just filler. I don't understand how it began considering the ending of the last. Also I don't understand the decisions some of the characters made. I will definitely continue reading these, but I hope the next is better.
