A quick read with lots of one line solutions to very complex issues. The fixes might work but it does not go into enough detail on what to do along the way. This financial crisis in much different than ones in the past and he clearly states that. This is a plan for you to survive the crisis but does not encourage you to get involved politically to fix the crisis and to prevent future crisis in the economy of this country which drives the economy of the rest of the world. If that is FIXING the crisis is not addressed then no matter what is tried the world economy will not survive the crisis.

Perfect for a small business owner who needs a little help. It's arranged like a textbook, with follow ups to the chapters. But it's defiantly for someone who's been educated in business, it uses jargon to cover ideas without proper explanations or definitions.

I received this book as an ARC and would have been very upset if I paid the $24.50 cover price for a book this short. The book is organized around quick action items around broad business categories (such as solutions fo services, managing prices, etc). This book actually serves as a well written quick strategy guide for business neophytes. While some lessons were helpful, for me, I felt like it was more of a rehashing of lessons I had learned from school and business.

This is a detailed and informative book that’s all business. The 33 Quick Solutions are well thought out and practical. I suggest that as you read the book you keep a notebook at your side. The amount of information comes at you fast and you may want to keep notes. Some of the illustrations are small and you may want to enlarge a few of them so that they are easier on the eyes. After reading the book you may have to go back and reread some of the solutions and see how they can apply to you and your company. Then you can pick the ones that are best for your situation. If you are serious about business, then this is the book for you!

Beat the Crisis: 33 Quick Solutions for your Company is a compact “how to” for business owners and key decision makers in navigating and surviving the current economic downturn. Author, Hermann Simon, uses not only his practical business experience, but has also national and international sources, for documented results that work depending upon your business model and goals. Such measures as cost cutting, cross-selling, and service flexibility have devoted sections with endnotes to support the recommendations. Simon also includes an implementation chapter and a section on “beyond the crisis” to assess the “longer-term consequences” of the quick solutions implemented. 33 Quick Solutions is written for the business owner, who wants practical strategies to aid in today’s economy

When I initially received this book, I thought it would be very good. As a small business owner, I am constantly looking for ways to easily increase sales and cut costs to make our company more competitive, while still providing excellent customer service and high value. After reading it though, I was disappointed. It read like a thesis for a master’s degree with lots of complicated charts and convoluted examples. The “quick solutions” were primarily obvious solutions that most well-managed companies are already doing, and were mostly targeted for large corporations. For example, have your sales people visit your high profile customers more often and the “C-list” customers less often. In addition, once the solutions were provided, there didn’t seem to be examples of how to implement each solution. I would have loved to see implementation suggestions for small, medium & large businesses. This is not a book I would recommend to other business owners.

A Very intelligent book. If you own your own business or are a manager this book is a must have. Really goes into the in's and out's of proper moves to make during the latest financial crisis and even upcoming ones. Not the easiest book to understand but defiantly worth ready if you are in a position to change the way a company runs
