The return of the guards
from
Paula Levendig
Foreword
In the second book, the journey would be
continued. The truth that had freed Mira, Clara
and Eyron spread throughout the world, bringing
to light secrets that would have been better kept
hidden and attracting the nights willing to do
anything to control this new reality.
The book would focus on the return of the
Guardians
2
They are concentrating on an old order that once
swore to maintain the balance between truth and
power. But the Guardians were broken,
splintered by betrayal and discord. Mira and her
companions would be forced to revive these
alliances of their own as they fight enemies,
rising from both their past and the darkness of
the new truth.
The Echo of Shadows
In a world full of secrets, prophecy and ancient
powers, the story of Mira, Lea, Eryon follows
unclear,4 young people connected by a
mysterious fate. When they discovered evidence
of a prophecy that speaks of a "2 Echo Money
Shadow", they embark on a
3
journey to uncover the truth behind this dark
power. The path leads them to an eerie lake,
whose
Water holds an old, hidden power. There they
will be confronted with the truth: the echo of the
shadows is not only a key to power, but also a
test that will demand everything from them, red,
trust and sacrifice. But the
The road is full of dangers. Dark forces, betrayal
and their own fears put the group to the test
again and again. As they delve deeper into the
mysteries, they realize that the
Truth that you seek will not only change the
world, but also itself. The Echo of Shadows is a
story of friendship, courage, and the price of
4
truth, and how even in the deepest darkness a
light can shine.
Chapter 1: The Guardian of the Key
Hell was deep black canvas, interspersed with
silver stars that watch over the world like silent
witnesses. In the distance rose a mountain range,
the peaks of which glittered in the moonlight.
Below, hidden among the shadows of ancient
images, lay an abandoned fortress.
The walls of the fortress wait, marked by time,
its stones cracked and overgrown with moss. But
despite their condition, they radiated an
unwavering presence from a relic of an era when
the Guardians watched over the balance of the
world. In the middle of the dilapidated Stuntman
farm. His cloak beds in the cold wind, and his
form was a mixture of strength and age. His
eyes, imbued with an inner fire, looked at your
tablet, which had been reached in the middle of
the square.
It's time,
Groundhog, his voice come as a
whisper.
5
The plaque began to glow, a faint, golden light
that slowly spread over the surface. Ancient
runes await life, and an eerie hum fills the air.
Guardian of balance,
he repeated as the wind
raged around him. I'll call you back! Your world
needs you, the truth had freed itself, and the
darkness rises to devour it "The light of the
tablet exploded in a blinding beam. For a
moment, the entire fortress was bathed in golden
glow. And then quietly.
A new call far away, in a small clearing by a
river, Mira wakes up drenched in sweat. Her
heart was racing and she was gasping for air.
Take it, Clara, who had been alarmed so often,
stirred. What happened?
asked Clara.
Mira looks into the distance, her eyes full of
confusion and worry." I don't know. But I felt
something. Something called us." Clara
frowned. A call? By whom?
I don't know,
Mira replied as she slowly
straightened up.
"But it feels like a baby. Something old
awakens. Something we can't ignore.
6
The Call of Shadows
At the same time, in a city far from the place of
call, a figure opened his eyes. The man, dressed
in worn robes, sat in a crowded taproom. His
face was confused, but his eyes were bright and
alert.
I felt it, as did Mira and the others. The call had
reached him.
With a heavy sigh he rose and reached for a long
staff that leaned against his side." So that's how
it starts again," Murmel Dr. Punkt.
The guests in the taproom took no notice of him
as he stepped out into the cold night. But the air
around him seemed to change, as if recognizing
his importance.
The last words of the prologue
The final words of the prologue all over the
world, in cities, forests and mountains, those
who were once called the Guardians began to
receive their own signs. Some ignored the call,
while others see it for what it was: a warning.
7
The Guardians were scattered, theirs shattered
by years of war and betrayal. But now a new
movement began: the truth was revealed, and
with it came chaos and power. The Guardians
had to return, but not everyone who heard the
call was ready to restore the balance.
A wolf howled in the distance, and the moon
shone brighter than ever. The Guardians will
return or the world will burn.
The Power of Shadows
The night was cool, and the wind carried the
scent of ring and moss through the dense trees of
the forest. Mira pulled her cloak tighter around
her as she walked along the narrow path. The
moon was but a narrow crescent streak in the
sky, and the darkness seemed alive, an endless
shadow that followed her at every turn.
8
Behind her trudged Eyron and Clara, their steps
heavy and marked by the long journey. It had
been weeks since they had found the first clues
to the prophecy. Weeks full of puzzles that they
had solved and dangers that they had survived.
But now that they had almost reached the lake,
Mira felt strangely empty. "Are we sure that this
is the right way?" asked Lea in a trembling
voice. The lantern in her hand threw only a faint
light into the impenetrable darkness.
The right way?
Repeated her Eyron behind
her dryly. "I think the right way would be to stay
at home and not let old legends drive us to our
deaths."
Or she's leading us into a trap,
he murmured,
but he said it quietly, as if he didn't really want
to convince anyone.
Mira stopped and turned to the others. Stop it,
she said firmly. Her voice cut through the
silence of the night. "We're all tired, but we
knew from the beginning that it wouldn't be
easy. The lake is close. We have to persevere."
9
Mira lowered her head and nodded. "It just feels
wrong, you know? This place does not welcome
us."
Clara put a hand on Mira's shoulder. "That's
exactly why we have to be here. Sometimes we
find the truth in the places we are afraid of."
Chapter 2 Return of the Guardians
A cold gust of wind made Mira shiver as she
stood in front of the dark cave entrance together
with Clara and Eyron. The night lay heavy over
the forest, the lake behind them seemed silent
and eerie, as if it were holding its breath. The
fog meandered eerily across the damp ground,
and a barely audible whisper came from inside
the cave.
Mira held on to the old ring. It was a last hint
from Lea. The grandmother's legends about the
guardians
could not get Mira out of her head.
Had they returned?
Should we really do that?
whispered Clara,
looking nervously into the darkness.
10
Eyron stepped forward, determined. "We cannot
turn back. We have to find Lea."
Mira felt an alien energy since the discovery of
the ring. Without hesitation, she stepped into the
cave.
Clara and Mira were in a dark environment. The
air was damp and cold, the ground uneven.
There was a continuous whisper that seemed to
come from all directions. Clara reached for
Mira's hand, which felt cold.
The ring in Mira's hand began to glow. The light
illuminated the walls and showed symbols in the
stone. Eryon looked closer and noticed that the
signs represented a story.
Mira touched one of the symbols, whereupon the
ground began to vibrate and a sound was heard.
A voice said that the seal had been broken and
the guards would return.
11
A violent blast of air swept through the cave,
stirring up dust and bringing the shadows on the
walls to life. In front of them, shadowy figures
were formed, born of light and darkness. The
Guardians. Mira felt her heartbeat quickening.
Were they here to help or to stop them?
