The story just keeps on getting better and better. I especially liked the fact that the characters are smart, intelligent people who skirt away from cliched horror tropes. There are also new flourishes that add to the story and the development of the people in it.

Edit: just finished it, and it's amazing. The journey was absolutely wonderful and the destination was well worth it.

A brilliant end to a brilliant series. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez have constantly and consistently raised the bar in each successive volume of this series. Loved the Joe Hill cameo as an ambulance driver and also the Carrie prom scene homage.

Joe Hill deserves a ton of credit for the wonderful dialogue, but Gabriel Rodriquez deserves just as much, if not more credit for the stunningly detailed and intricate artwork that complemented Hill's words beautifully. This series simply wouldn't have been half as enjoyable without his visuals.

I'm sad to see the end of this series, but I'm so grateful that Hill and Rodriguez finished it so satisfyingly, which seems to be more the exception than the rule these days.

This is the final book in the Locke & Key series, so I don’t want to do too much of a summary so as not to give anything away. I guess I’ll just say that prom is coming up and although Tyler isn’t interested in going, his younger sister, Kinsey is going with her boyfriend. Things will come to a head after the prom. I thought this was one of the better books in the series. As with the others, there is some gore. The illustrations are done very well.

THIS SERIES!!!! Perfect conclusion to one of the greatest comic series I've read. All the questions are answered, everything is wrapped up, my eyes hurt from crying, and all is right with the world. It's dark, gut wrenching, and absolutely perfect. It could not have ended any better. I'm really hoping that the Netflix adaptation does this series justice because everything about Locke & Key is perfection. Thank you Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez for taking me on this ride. It's everything I never knew I wanted!

“Secrets are hell. Secrets are the prisons we make for ourselves.”Oh Tyler. You wore the hate of my favorite baseball team, the Oakland A's, and that made you my favorite! Then you said this, of my favorite band, “I hate Dave Matthews’ music, too.” :( For shame.Other than that misstep, this is a heck of an ending to the series! Very satisfying and well done! I'm very impressed about the momentum this story had and they way they were able to make me feel that the ending justified the means. And it hit all the right notes for me about who lived, who died, and who, and how, characters were affected. Well done Mr. Hill!“Eighteen and stupid happens to everyone...” Sooooo true....

The exciting conclusion to the Locke and Key saga. I have to admit I teared up a bit at the end. This volume wraps up the story. There is a lot of action, and I am still not sure what exactly happened to Bode at the end, but overall a very satisfying conclusion. This series was great.

So I guess that was the end? I didn't love it as much as I was expecting to, but it's still a great book.

A most satisfying conclusion. I really hope either the creators or others will take up the story and do more with it. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

And also, I really want to see more done with the house, itself.

The final chapters are a great send-off and conclusion to the series. I don't want to give away anything, but Joe Hill does a great job with ending the story and cementing his legacy in comics with this series of books.

As I said at the start of this series, the art is incredible and I love how the emotions, memories, and keys are each depicted. The way in which the story ended was so well done and didn't leave any lingering questions that may have left the story unfinished. I began reading this series after a goodreads recommendation and was not too certain I would enjoy it but it is definitely one of my favorite graphic novel series.

The final volume is the ultimate showdown of good vs. evil. A thrilling climax to this series, and really, it all boils down to loyalty, both in family and friends. There were moments of sadness as not everyone could be saved, but overall I was satisfied with the conclusion.Gabriel Rodriguez complimented the story with the excellence of his artwork throughout the series. The overall look and style was spot on as was the continuity. Joe Hill and he made a great team and the 6 volumes of Locke & Key read like a book with a definite beginning, a middle and an end. Although quite high on the violence scale, this is a series I will long remember.

The Locke and Key series was amazing. The originality, creepiness, and heart here cannot be beat. Joe Hill's magnificent story and Gabriel Rodriguez's breathtaking artwork combined to tell an original, involving story like no other I've experienced in graphic novel format, with the exception of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series.

I loved the Locke family because they felt real. They weren't perfect, they didn't always get along, and there were many times they barely even seemed to like each other. And yet, like any good family, they always came together when they needed to. I also appreciated that the story wasn't without its tragedy, even if the good guys triumph in the end.

This was a wonderful, engrossing series, and I'm sad to have come to the end of it, but am so glad I experienced it.

Dodge has collected all the keys and is getting ready to release his fellow demons, but Bode has a new ally in Rufus, when prom night is spent in the caves, a battle to the death is unavoidable. Here is the grand finale to this extremely imaginative series. The stakes are as high as they can be and one cannot help by try to warn the characters on the page of the bad things that are coming at them. The art is a little too perfect, but the story is rock solid.

I'm not sure all the characters lived up to what I hoped for them, especially for Kinsey. However, this is a gripping and satisfying conclusion to the series. This series is among my favorite graphic novel storylines.

Summary: Dodge - currently inhabiting the body of six-year-old Bode Locke - has finally achieved what he's been searching for his entire life - and more. He's got the key that will open the Black Door, and let the demons on the other side enter our world. Tyler and Kinsey, along with their mother and uncle, have stood against Dodge, but now that he's got control of the keys, he may be too powerful for them to stop. And when Lovecraft Academy's biggest after-prom party is being held in the caves underneath Key House, it may be impossible for them to avert tragedy - or the end of the world.Review: I was apprehensive, but this volume was everything that I wanted out of the end of such a great series. It was scary, it was suspenseful, it made me laugh, and man alive, it made me cry. (Or at least get extremely misty-eyed.) There were parts that were almost too brutal to read, they were so heartwrenching. Hill & Rodriguez have developed characters with huge emotional depth over the course of the series, and they don't disappoint here. Their use of horror is also once-again spot-on; it's a little gory in places, but it never seems gratuitously show, and personally, I found the results of the Shadow Crown to be some of the scariest parts of this book. They also wrap up a lot of smaller threads from earlier in the series in ways that feel organic and satisfying. There was only one element of the ending that I wasn't crazy about, and I suspect that's due in large part to the fact that it's been a while since I read the first five volumes, and I've forgotten some of the details about how each of the keys work. But regardless, this series is amazingly good, and Hill & Rodriguez chose to end it while it was still at the top of its game. 4.5 out of 5 stars.Recommendation: Nothing will make sense if you don't start at the beginning, but the series as a whole is well worth reading, even if horror isn't typically your favorite genre. There's a quote on the back cover calling Locke & Key "this generation's Sandman", and I have to say, I think I might agree. Highly recommended.

    It’s over.

With volume six, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez have closed the book on their nearly six year long journey through Lovecraft, Massachusetts with the Locke family. At the conclusion of volume five, things were about as dark as you could imagine. Dodge had gained possession of the Omega key and was ready to unleash his dark forces upon Lovecraft. Will he ultimately succeed or will the Locke family prove too much to overcome?

I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review.

When a series, be it comics, books, television or otherwise, announces that it’s closing up shop, there’s always a worry that they’ll leave things on a sour note. Rather than let the story seemingly run on forever, Hill and Rodriguez made the difficult decision to end things while they were still on top. Honestly, they could’ve continued the series for a number of years, running the story until the creative juices stopped flowing. However, the creators had an endgame and no level of critical praise was going to keep them from finishing it the way they wanted.

It’s hard to really say anything about the series at this point that I haven’t already said. I know, I know, as a reviewer, that line is such a cop out but it’s true. Rodriguez’s art continues to blow me away and Hill’s writing is pure perfection. In simple terms, they knocked it out of the park; which is impressive considering both Hill and Rodriguez knew that expectations were at a fever pitch. In fact, I’ll be shocked if I find anyone who’s disappointed in the direction the co-creators went to end the series. To steal a cliche, it’s an emotional roller coaster that readers will not soon forget.

Along with DC’s Gotham Central, I feel that Locke & Key is one of the strongest series I've ever read. At no point in the entirety of this story did I feel like the creators were just mailing it in. With a collaboration as successful as this, Hill and Rodriguez owe it to themselves to work together in the future. I’d put their partnership up against any duo out there today in terms of pure creative chemistry. If you haven’t started the series, now is the time to do so.

Still not sure how I feel about that ending. I think there was at least one cheat, but I also think I'd have to read the whole thing again to figure out how I feel about that. If there's ever an omnibus edition, I'll probably buy it for my own library.

The final volume of the Locke & Key graphic novel series. And a sufficiently climactic conclusion it is, too, full of suspense and horror and violence and nobility and warmth. I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm sorry it's all over.I wholeheartedly recommend this series as a whole, if you have any interest at all in a beautifully drawn fantasy/horror comic that tells a great story with great characters and makes excellent use of the graphic novel format. I'd strongly suggest picking up all six volumes and reading them at once, though, because the only thing I disliked about these books was the way that the loss of momentum in the long wait between installments did such a disservice to the story.Rating: 4.5/5, although the whole thing, put all together, might well deserve a 5/5.

When I got a copy of this from NetGalley to review I was absolutely ecstatic. I love love love this graphic novel series. It is my absolute favorite graphic novel series and sadly this is the last book in it. This was an excellent close to the series, I really could not have asked for a more wonderful ending to the series.Dodge has all of the keys and he is using them to drag the kids from the Locke house and their friends into the Demon Realm. Dodge wants to rule the world with the help of his demonic friends. To do this Dodge has possessed Bode’s body, displacing Bode to spirit form. Unfortunately getting everyone in one place is made incredibly easy because the after prom party is being held in the cave that holds the portal. The Locke kids will need all their wits about them if they are to vanquish this evil once and for all...and they will have to pay a steep cost to do so.Whenever I pick up one of these books I forget how incredibly engaging they are. I am absolutely involved with all of these characters, they evoke such strong emotions. I have hated and loved all of these characters at one point of another. The story and the scenes are just so...visceral...I think that’s the right word to describe them. They are raw, evoke a lot of emotion and just grab you. There are some truly awesome scenes in this book. Dodge has all of the keys...so Shadows are attacking people, Giants are roaming, and he is digging around in people’s heads. It is so truly terrifying, yet just...so...absolutely stunningly awesome. As with all of these books lots of bad stuff happens, lots of scary stuff happens, and lots of truly disturbing things happen. But, unlike previous books, there is a lot of good stuff too. The Locke family is finally pulling together. Their mother is finally sober and things are starting to really look like maybe, just maybe, the whole family won’t end up in absolute disaster. The authors did an absolutely fantastic job of wrapping things up. No portion of the story is left dangling, no character abandoned. It was a truly excellent ending. We see characters here be heroes that I never thought would step up to the challenge and they did.As with previous installments the artwork is just beyond top notch. It is beautiful, full color, and adds a ton to the story. I am thrilled with this book, excited to know how everything turned out, and depressed that it is over.Overall an absolutely stunning conclusion to this graphic novel series. I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down and now that I am done I want to read these all again. This graphic novel series is highly recommended to anyone (adult age) who loves graphic novels. It is definitely a horror graphic novel, but there are a lot of really neat fantasy and supernatural elements as well. The first book in this series was the weakest, but the series only got better and better from there on out. Oh, how I loved this series and this final book was absolutely the icing on the cake!

5 Stars*I received this uncorrected galley through NetGalley*I will not give a synopsis since this is a fifth in a series and I don’t want to give any spoilers by accident. This series is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed and I have been recommending it since I read the first graphic novel. There is a lot of action and the art is amazing. It’s easy to follow and a very quick read. The one thing that I like the most about this series is the characters and their dysfunctional family life. The kids of Lovecraft may be trying to slay demons but they are also sparring with real life problems that will resonate with quite a few readers. I mentioned the art work before but just saying its amazing is an understatement. The story alone is great but the artwork really brings the characters to life making it easy to form attachments to them. I will keep recommending this one.
