This is the eighth book in the Berserk series and was just as wonderful as all the others in this series.The Band of the Hawk face their toughest battle yet and triumph. Griffith is awarded the position of general and all of the Band of the Hawk will be knighted and made nobility. However, Guts puts a pall over the celebration when he decides to leave the Band of the Hawk and pursue his own dreams.I continue to be impressed with how much story each volume covers. The illustration continues to be very well done. The story is easy to follow and action-packed. This volume is half battle and half intrigue at court.Overall this was a wonderful addition to the Berserk series. I continues to enjoy this series and be impressed by the action, characters, world-building and story. I would recommend to mature readers who enjoy fantasy horror manga.

Another fantastic volume. This one also deals more with political intrigue than most of the volumes in this series, but interspersed between them are very important scenes for the Band of the Hawks and for Guts. The catalyst in volume six is rearing it head as Guts makes a very decisive decision. It’s the fork in the road that furthers what will happen next. As always the artwork is breath taking. And the story keeps getting more and more complex. This is no work in the park. Miura expects the reader to follow along without needing to be led along. I think "showing" is harder to accomplish in graphic novels, but Miura does very well. It's up to the reader to catch the small shifts in expressions and interactions and to get what is happening. I love the interplay that is forming between all characters. This is another volume where you will want the ext volume on hand as you finish this one. It ends on a heart=wrenching scene. I'm glad I decided to reread this series. It deserves a reread every few years at least.
