She has always had multiple pets living in her home. Under the big mesquite tree is a pet cemetery. Each has a gravestone with their name on it. The children know that her oversize purse may harbor a baby critter that needs a feeding every two hours. The love for animals does not carry over to the rattlesnake in the mind of Anita.
