Although Dr. Abdi grew up in his homeland and completed his primary educat ion there,he gained his college and graduate education in a number of countries including Egypt, the United Kingdom, and t he United States. He holds fou r college degrees, including Masters in both Public Healt h and Public Admin istration. His doctorate is in political science from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta. Ever since he left Somalia unceremoniously crossing th e Somalia-Kenya border in 1972, Dr. Abdi never forgot the tragedies he has left behind, and has not been surprised how the events that preceded the current turmoil unfolded. What can be done now to remedy the situation? A new elite is r.eeded to shoulder this responsibili t y and guide the nation out of t he unending political and social dilemma .
