I retired after 10 years of teaching junior high students, I retired after being a farm and ranch real estate appraiser for 10 years and I retired after 20 years of being an investigator, specializing in real estate appraisal fraud. I am a pilot of 25 years of small single engine airplanes and love to find out of the way quilt stores that I can fly to as an excuse to go fly.
My quilting started out as a social hobby to get together with a cool group of ladies I know. Since I have always loved textures I sought out fabrics that are rich looking, texturally interesting and have an unique feel. After many different fabric choices, I found Minky fabric and started creating designs with it. After a couple of years, my quilting friends (The Sew Haute Sisters) pushed me into writing a book so they could learn how to use this fabric too. Now I’m sharing my passion with so many others who said you can’t possibly sew with this fabric.
I was asked by my local quilt store Big Sky Quilts of Great Falls, Montana to teach a pattern created by Christopher Florence called the Labyrinth. I sewed my sample out of Minky and it was an overnight internet success. This pattern was shared and viewed about 4.5 million times in a matter of a month. No one could believe that you could piece with Minky.weniger sehen
