McClelland's characters bleed when they're cut, aren't the toughest hombres on the landscape, and his female characters sweat, swear, and are as tough as their male counterparts when pushed too far; and they all love like tomorrow doesn't exist.
If you want perfect characters, read someone else's books. But if you want characters you can relate to - read his.
McClelland now lives in a lakeside town in the Okanagan valley where tourists come to die.
