He holds Bachelor Degrees of Science and Arts from The University of Idaho and The University of Maryland, Master Degrees of Science and Literature from The George Washington University and The University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. from East Anglia University. Since retiring from the Air Force after 30 years of flying, and staff-officer and commander duties, he has served as professor of history and aviation technology for the University of Maryland and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He currently lives in South Idaho where he supervises graduate-level research projects, writes and lectures, travels nationwide to visit historical sites, and participates in aviation-related symposiums.
