He spent the late 60’s and early 70’s marketing records, audio components and technology in the UK music industry. He joined CBS Records in Sydney Australia and then moved on to become a pioneer of the laser printing technology with Canon Inc. Later he took his combined knowledge into a multimedia production company that won three “MacWorld” awards under his management.
After ten years of a corporate career the gene of adventure that runs in the men of his family caught up with him. Duncan’s father, a “Black Watch” veteran crack shot, grand Prix Bugatti racer and yachtsman was born into the MacLeod Clan on a tea plantation in the exotic jungle of Sri Lanka. Stories of the tropics and Ceylon played on Duncan’s genetic inclinations and led him to travel extensively. He first visited Bali in 1980 and it became a catalyst for his creative research. He designed his Eco friendly accessories catalog in 1990 and produced for fashion names Monsoon, Jigsaw, Portmans and Esprit.
During the early millennium in the course of his product’s development designer Linda Garland, residing in Bali, influenced him with design and ecological responsibility. In brief Duncan had an idea he called MeshglassTM that employs many Balinese artisans’ tiny but very dexterous hands and proceeded to develop his hand cut stained glass décor surfacing concept coupled with his original design software.
Duncan’s concern for the ecology motivated him to continue in the fields of sustainability and life style; His intent is to reconcile the natural and scientific worlds; his passion is aroused by sustainable design, integrity, tolerance and kindness. He has witnessed Bali’s changes over 35 years and has written “Bali: Sustainable Visions” for Abbeville Press of New York and “In the Spirit of Bali” for publisher Assouline. He has also completed a Trilogy called “The ROLLO Trilogy”weniger sehen
