I am the youngest of three, with my brother and sister, William Chris Rhymer and Michelle Lynette Rhymer, and parents, William Otis Rhymer and Maxine Ruth Rhymer. I attended school at Clyde A. Erwin.
Growing up in the ’70s and ’80s was a tough time. Money was slim, and my dad was always working. And when he was home, he would continue working around the house. He taught me survival skills and the needs to be self-sufficient. One of my favorite lessons learned was playing chess. Daddy always said, “If you can win at chess, you can win at life!”
My mother did the best with what she had; she had not learned certain skills that we now practice with our children. My brother, who is seven years older than myself and who I hung out with most of the time, protected me and introduced me to his older friends.
My sister who was two and a half years older; we fought so much. She was closer to dad growing up than I was, so there was some jealousy that developed over time. That eventually grew into a strong friendship as we got older.weniger sehen
