Austin was formerly a unit manager at Great Nigeria Insurance Company PLC head office in Lagos, Nigeria. He received his ministerial training under Bishop David O. Oyedepo at Word of Faith Bible Institute Lagos, where the Bishop and his wife was among his lecturers.
