After an ignominious stint as the editor of an adult title he was so numbed by the experience — and so contemptuous of what he called ‘the plague of white-anting, chicken-shit colleagues’ — that he opted for the life of a freelancer. He now spends a lot of time in the gym, drinks red wine, and starts fights on public transport. He classifies himself as a ‘misanthropist’ who if he had his time over again “would become a serious gun collector, with or without a license.” He lives in Sydney with a large collection of WW2 action figures, which he talks to when drunk.
